It would be difficult to select a more deserving beneficiary than Richard Montgomerie. Monty has been pivotal to
Sussex’s success.
Monty has had a career spanning some 16 years. In short, 19000 runs in all cricket, 12000 for Sussex. Opening in 125 first class matches without missing one for Sussex since mid 1999. Many catches at short leg! His 2 wickets include Kevin Pietersen caught and bowled!
An Oxford blue at cricket and half blue at racquets and real tennis. He is a true gentleman and an ambassador for the game. He is both courteous and courageous.
During the 2003 championship winning year Monty was voted fielder of the year rewarding his excellent catching at short leg whilst Mushtaq was bowling.
In last years double winning team it is a testament to Monty that a team that is built upon team spirit decided to vote him as their `team man of the year`. This says it all.
We have some very different events this year to include poker, a day’s horse racing and a variety of lunches and dinners.
